By definition, the innovation world is constantly shifting and evolving (albeit, our research tells us, most of the apparent change is actually noise rather than signal). The only way to stay ahead of the game is to keep a close eye on what others are doing, and to be able to integrate new findings into the giant innovation ‘theory of everything’ jigsaw we’ve been constructing for the last forty years.

We know how the human brain is a rats-nest of bias and misconceptions, and that the only way to find genuine – universal – patterns is to be able to find patterns that aren’t. Via negativa, in other words, sits at the heart of our research progress engine. It's really easy to find more data to confirm what you already know; it’s far more difficult to force yourself to run towards the things that don’t fit. But that’s the job that needs to be done.
